Signal Substraction Module type 692

The SSM SIGNAL SUBTRACTION MODULE Type 692 is used to subtract two measured signals that are present on the bus inside the PLUGSYS housing. The result, the difference between the two input signals, is then amplified again. The gain can be selected in the following steps: 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 5x, 10x, 20x.
The output signal appears on the BNC socket on the module front panel and through a jumper on the selected bus line (AV1 to AV 16).

Description

MUX key  operating the MUX key switches the output signal to the AM line of the bus board. The function is held automatically. When the MUX key of another module is operated the MUX function is reset and the output of the other module is switched to the AM line.
LED “MUX ON”  lights up on pressing the MUX key. The green LED thus indicates that the output of the module is switched to the MUX line (AM) of the system bus.
LED “OUT OF RANGE”  lights up when the output signal exceeds the permitted voltage range of ±10 V. The output amplifier circuit is overloaded! Remove the overload by reducing the gain.
LED “IN RANGE”  lights up when the amplitude of the output signal is within the permitted range of ±10 V.
GAIN x0.5 - x1 - x2  toggle switch with centre position for selection of gain at these factors.
GAIN x1 - x10  switch for the coarse amplification settings. The total gain is given by combining the switches (5) and (6) (minimum 0.5x to maximum 20x).
OUT (±10 V) BNC socket for the output signal
Inputs  IN1 and IN2, selected by internal jumpers on the system bus (AV1 - AV16)
Input characteristic  input voltage: ±10 Volt max., input impedance: 100 kOhm
Common mode rejection  better than 1:1000
Outputs  BNC socket and bus line selected by internal jumper (AV1 - AV16)
Output characteristic  output voltage ±10 Volt (±13 V max.) current loading: 1 mA max (Ri = 100 Ohm)
Protection circuit  the output is protected against permanent short-circuit
Frequency response  0 to 1.5 kHz (-3 dB = -30%), flat (-1% at 400 Hz)
Indication  MUX ON and overload (IN RANGE = green, OUT OF RANGE = red)
Settings  switches for fine gain (x0.5 - x1 - x2) and coarse gain (x1 - x10)
Supply  5 V 350 mA, supplied from PLUGSYS system bus
Dimensions  module for PLUGSYS housing, width 4E (20.2 mm), height 3U (128.7 mm), depth Euroboard (220 mm)
Weight  0.2 kg
