HSE-Small Operating Table size 5, Type 872for rodents (rat, guinea-pig)

The HSE-Operating Table size 5 is suitable
for rodents (rat, guinea-pig. At a heavy cast iron tripod base
is mounted a ball joint, allowing to tilt the plate in any direction.
The plate of the operating table measures 300 mm × 195
mm and is made of plastic coated aluminium plate. Both sides
of the plate have multiple slots for fixing the paw holderss
and optional thorax retractors. Numerous slots and dedicated
paw holders allow both large and small animals to be held firmly
in position for optimal surgical access. A block clamp with ball
joint holder can be fixed onto the plate for holding various
probes, electrodes, or cannulae. For grounding the table e.g.
while recording the animals ECG, there is a socket for connecting
a banana plug (4 mm). The operating table size 5 is available in four versions:
T = Tripod Version -- F = Flat Version |

Heating Controller Type 872/1 to HSE-Small Operating Table size 1 and size 5 |

|
The adjustable temperature heated models use
the heating controller 872/1. In this version, there is no feedback
control. The table is heated and maintained at stable temperature
by controlling the amount of DC-energy to the heating element.
On the controller the energy is adjustable in a range of 20-100%
of the maximum energy. The controller also ensures the safety
shutoff. These models are often used for quick surgical procedures
or acute animal studies (30 minutes or less) requiring the core temperature of the animal be maintained. To adjust the controller an electronic thermometer for measuring the animal body temperature is required. |

Homeothermic Controller Type 872/2 to HSE-Small Operating Table size 1 and size 5 |

|
Should the animals core temperature fall, power is automatically increased to the operating table; conversely, power will automatically reduce if the animals temperature rises. During this process the animals temperature is continuously displayed on a front panel LCD display. This homeothermic controller consists of three parts: a probe, a control unit, and a adapter box. The flexible probe is a precision thermistor encapsulated in a bead of epoxy resin at the top of a flexible hollow plastic tube. The 2 mm diameter probe is 100 mm (4 in) long and has a 2 m (6 ft) long cable with plug for attachment to the control unit. It is suitable for a wide range of laboratory animals from adult mice to rata and guinea pigs The rigid probe is a stainless steel shaft with a diameter of 1.6 mm. The shaft attaches to a 2 m (6 ft) cable with a plug that connects to the control unit. It is suitable for use with mice, and rodents. The output of the temperature sensing probe is used by the control unit to proportionally control the regulated, low-voltage DC supply to the operating table. This method of control alleviates the interference problems associated with that of non-proportional control, such as switching contacts, thus enabling the system to be used in conjunction with highgain recording systems. The control temperature is preset at 37°C (98.6°F) at the factory, but can be adjusted within the range of 35° to 40°C (95° to 104°F) by means of a control on the front panel. An LCD display on the control unit continuously displays the probe temperature. A horizontal LED bar graph indicates the level of power being delivered to the operating table. When core temperature is substantially below the desired temperature the bar graph will indicate maximum power being delivered. The adapter consists of a separate box including the permanent control of the maximum temperature of the operating table. It acts as a safety cicuit by limiting the maximum temperature of the operating table to 40°C. This circuit uses a second thermistor probe built-in the operating table. The operating table is electrically floating, with respect to ground however, one end of the heating element can be grounded by a switch on the front panel of the control unit. The system operates satisfactorily whether or not the operating table is grounded. Special circuitry eliminates electrical noise thus permitting sensitive recordings. |
