These couplers are designed to replace the preamplifiers in the Watanabe Oscillographic recorders, considerably broadening their application. They also provide a low-cost recording system. All couplers show the same layout on the right half of the panel: selection of "direct input" or "coupler input" or "off". Furthermore polarity can be changed, "position" and "amplitude" can be set. Amplitude can additionally be switched in 3 steps by changing sensivitity each step 1:2. A switch for upper limit of frequency range enables to record 0-100 Hz, 0-0.5 Hz, 0-0.1 Hz especially for producing mean values. Each coupler has a 0.5 V/cm auxiliary output to an oscilloscope or other measuring or recording instrument (Ri = 100 Ohms) and an auxiliary input for 50 mV/cm (Ri = 100 kOhms). The couplers are classified in 3 groups:
