Rodent Shocker RS

The Rodent Shocker is a sine wave generator for investigating, anticonvulsive effects. Mice or rats can be stimulated with a.c. at constant current in order to achieve satisfactory results as different impedance values. High energy levels are required in these tests. Extreme care must be taken and the electrodes must not be touched since the voltage can rise to 750 V (!) on open-circuit. Always use rubber gloves when working with this equipment !

Safety provisions:

• The output is floating and not connected to either the case or the circuit zero.
• Current only flows while two keys are being depressed: RELEASE and START.
• If no animal is connected up, the equipment switches itself off automatically.
• Shock duration is limited to the pre-set time and is indicated digitally.
• Changing the current intensity requires special action.
• Three limiting ranges for the magnitude of current and voltage can be pre-selected.
• A bargraph indicates the course of the stimulation.
