Micro-Tattooing System
This Tattooing System is a quick, efficient and affordable method of permanently identifying laboratory animals, particularly mice and rats as early as one day old. Designed and tested by laboratory animal technicians, the system utilizes a hypodermic needle at one end of a stainless forcep and a small metal cup containing the Green Tattoo Paste at the other side of the forcep.

By squeezing the forcep together, the needle penetrates the toe/foot pad, ear or tail of the animal and injects a deposit of green paste in the animal. This method is humane, permanent, rapid, economical, and allows unique identification of large numbers of rodents.
A complete kit includes one Micro-Tattoo Instrument, 1 oz tube of Green Tattoo Paste, one Stainless Steel Planchette, one Plastic Holding Case and two test Hypodermic Needles.
Recommended Hypodermic Needle size
- Young mice: 30 Gauge, 1/2 inch
- Adult mice: 27 Gauge, 1/2 inch
- Rats and others: 25 Gauge, 5/8 inch
