Standard Large Animal Stereotaxic Instruments
The Harvard Apparatus Large Animal Stereotaxic Instruments incorporate all of the features of the Standard U-Frame Stereotaxic Instrument into a design that is appropriate for most large laboratory animals, such as dog, cat and monkey. A complete system includes the base plate, 3-axis manipulator arm (dual option comes with two manipulator arms), species adapter, ear bars, and holder with corner clamp.
The Harvard Apparatus Large Animal Stereotaxic Instruments incorporate all of the features of the Standard U-Frame Stereotaxic Instrument into a design that is appropriate for most large laboratory animals, such as dog, cat and monkey. The dual-lead screw design ensures stable, accurate and smooth manipulations while the laser-engraved scales offer ease of reading. The instrument offers 180° vertical rotation and 360° horizontal rotation, with the ability to lock at any angle.
The two parallel rails can accommodate a total of six manipulator arms. This allows for multiple procedures to be performed simultaneously on a single animal in a single session. Furthermore, the unique swivel stand allows for the rail to be rotated 360° making it suitable for procedures and various angles.
Key Features
- Resolution of 100 µm for manual versions and 10 µm for digital versions
- Adapters available for cat, dog and monkey and other species
- Can fit up to 6 manipulator arms, 3 on each rail
- Additional single or dual arm manipulator arms available in manual or digital
- Instruments also available in digital versions
This complete system comes with:
- Base plate
- 3-axis manipulator arm (dual option comes with two manipulator arms)
- Species adapter
- Ear bars
- Holder with corner clamp
Additional manipulator arms can be purchased separately. Harvard Apparatus Manipulator Arms offer a dual-lead screw design that ensures stable, accurate and smooth manipulations while the laser engraved scales offer ease of reading. They offer 180° vertical rotation and 360° horizontal rotation, with the ability to lock at any angle.
The digital manipulator arm option provides the addition of a displacement transducer and a compact LCD display. Together, these additions allow real-time coordinate presentation of all three axes to a resolution of 10 µm. The display has the ability to run on either AC power or battery power, drastically reducing electrical noise and making it suitable for electrophysiology experiments.
